An exceptionally well-known and highly acclaimed film, Robert De Niro stars as Travis Bickle in Taxi Driver. This 1976 movie is so successful, it's not just one of the best films to come out of that decade, but it's considered one of the greatest in all of movie history. And with so many people having seen it, Travis Bickle will remain an easily recognizable character that instantly reminds you of the film and its messages.
5. Michael Myers
The moment you hear the name Michael Myers, we know you're imagining that white mask and hearing the dreaded, nerve-wracking tune. Released in 1978, Halloween would go on to become one of the most beloved horror franchises that continues to scare people every Halloween. It's all thanks to how incredibly (and terrifyingly) well written the character Michael Myers is.
